Dr Prue Johnstone is a Gynaecologist and Fertility Specialist in Geelong
Dr Prue lives locally with her family and is passionate about providing a comprehensive fertility service for her local community and surrounding areas.
Born, raised and schooled in Geelong, Prue returned to Geelong permanently in 2014 after completing her training.
Prue obtained her medical degree from Monash University with honours in 2000 and completed her FRANZCOG training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Mercy Hospital for Women in 2010. Her residency included time at Warrnambool Base Hospital, University Hospital Geelong, Wangaratta Base Hospital and Box Hill Hospital. She then went on to complete her fellowship in reproductive medicine at the Mercy and Monash IVF, followed by a Masters of Reproductive Medicine through the University of New South Wales.
Prue holds a public appointment at University Hospital Geelong providing early pregnancy and fertility care. She consults privately at Monash IVF and is the Clinical Director of Monash IVF Geelong and member of the Victorian Medical Advisory Committee, assisting with state-wide governance and auditing. Prue is a Lecturer at Deakin University and enjoys teaching and mentoring Deakin University medical students and Barwon Health registrars in her specialist field.
Prue is known for her passionate advocacy for regional patients in the Greater Geelong area and Western district, ensuring equal access to state of the art fertility care that is convenient and affordable.
Prue has extensive experience in all aspects of fertility and IVF. She has a special interest in management of female and male infertility, social infertility and donor treatment, surrogacy, recurrent miscarriage, egg freezing, as well as diagnostic and operative hysteroscopy and laparoscopy.
Prue works closely with Monash IVF nurses, counsellors and scientists to ensure patients receive coordinated, empathetic and evidence based care. Her focus on personalised assessment and treatment planning with clear explanation ensures individuals and couples feel supported, informed and empowered throughout their fertility journey.
